Minneapolis-based EXTERMINATION DAY take aim at political hypocrisy within the US government and the corrupting influence of wealth on their new single, ‘Fill the Swamp’. The official video accompanying the track has been released, alongside the announcement that the band’s new album, “Forty Miles of Bad Road”, will arrive on November 27, 2026, via Argonauta Records.

‘Fill the Swamp’ takes its name from the political slogan “drain the swamp”, associated with promises to rid the system of corruption in US politics. EXTERMINATION DAY reveal that the song targets a member of the current US administration’s cabinet, leaving listeners to guess who the lyrics are aimed at. More broadly, the track addresses how wealth corrupts people and how those who take office promising to change the system eventually become part of the very establishment they set out to challenge.

The band explains the inspiration behind the song:

“This song is directed at a current US administration’s cabinet member; people can listen and take a guess as to who it is. More broadly, the theme of the song is about how wealth corrupts and how the US government is full of charlatans who promised to ‘drain the swamp’ and instead ended up filling it.”

Following the previously released ‘Ruse Cycle’, the new single offers a glimpse of the political and social criticism running through the band’s upcoming album. “Forty Miles of Bad Road” brings together institutional corruption, social disillusionment, and the absurdities of modern life through the band’s dark humour.

EXTERMINATION DAY describe their musical approach as Hoss Rock. Blending punk, hard rock, doom metal, and garage rock, their sound draws on the heavy riffs of TROUBLE and THE OBSESSED, the raw aggression of POISON IDEA, the crossover approach of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s “Blind” era, and the unpredictable energy of DIE KREUZEN.

Featuring current and former members of SUFFERING HOUR, SATAN’S SATYRS, and KULT OF THE WIZARD, EXTERMINATION DAY extend the new album’s focus beyond politics. The band also addresses its discontent with employment, the police, the government, war, and the state of the world at large. Drawing on their own experiences and tongue-in-cheek humour, the record aims to bring their anti-authoritarian stance together with their distinctive musical approach.

“Forty Miles of Bad Road” will be released on November 27, 2026, via Argonauta Records on CD, deluxe coloured vinyl, and digital formats. The album features 11 tracks.
